Serving our neighbourhood since 1976
About us
Our story
We're a volunteer-run, inclusive organization committed to lifting up and celebrating our diverse community.
We strive to be our neighbourhood's voice within Calgary, while also giving Whitehorn residents a place to be heard. Our programs and events are not restricted to WCA members, they are open to everyone. All are welcome here. Membership is open to all residents of Whitehorn, and we offer Associate Memberships for non-Whitehorn residents who wish to support our organization by joining.
The WCA offers fitness programs, game days and meet-ups for seniors, a toddler playgroup, supports for our community Girl Guides, and a free Community Pantry serving 500+ families monthly. Our facilities include a community garden, an outdoor rink used year-round, and tennis courts run by the City of Calgary. We host regular free, family-friendly events throughout the year. The Whitehorn Community Association is a registered not-for-profit society under the Societies Act of Alberta.
Our philosophy
Mr. Rogers was right
By promoting community interests through purposeful leadership, intentional development and open communication, we work to nurture a welcoming place to live where residents enjoy the benefits of family, friends and community.
Many hands
Creating beautiful days in our neighbourhood takes teamwork, purposeful leadership and open communication.
Belonging
Being part of an engaging community is integral to a real sense of belonging. Everyone is welcome here.
No barriers
We provide affordable and no-cost options so every resident can enjoy their neighbourhood.
Our mission
Being part of an engaging community is integral to a real sense of belonging.
We provide residents with affordable and no-cost options to enjoy their neighbourhood by removing some of the barriers they may face. Our team works to create programs, events and safe spaces that give residents the ability to sit, converse and build friendships, so we can keep building a safe, thriving community for everyone.
